THAT IS WHAT I REALISE WHEN I DISCOVER THE HOUSE WHERE I’M STAYING IN MILAN IS JUST 300 METRES FROM THE CIRCOLO MARRAS, WHERE ANTONIO IS WAITING FOR ME BRIGHT AND EARLY TO CHOOSE THE CLOTHES FOR
THE PHOTO SHOOT WITH CRISTIANO GODANO, THE LEGENDARY LEADER OF MARLENE KUNTZ.
I HAVE KNOWN ANTONIO FOR 25 YEARS. I KNOW HIS HOME, HIS FAMILY, HIS OBSESSIONS. WE ALSO TRAVELLED THE WORLD TOGETHER WHEN HE WAS THE CREATIVE DIRECTOR OF KENZO. HE GOT EXCITED ABOUT MY ADVENTURE WITH FLEWID AND I GOT HIM INVOLVED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
IN THIS POSSIBLE SLIDING DOORS MOMENT, THE DEGREES OF SEPARATION ARE MINIMAL. CRISTIANO PRESENTED HIS PORTFOLIO TO CIRCOLO MARRAS AND, WITH THE HELP OF GIACOMO GUIDI, THE CONNECTION BETWEEN US WAS NATURAL. TIZIANA, ON THE OTHER HAND, IS MY WIFE’S FAVOURITE POET. I MET HER AT A VERNISSAGE IN ROME WHERE SHE WAS PRESENTING SOME OF HER WORKS AND WE BECAME INSEPARABLE. AS I APPROACH HIS BEAUTIFUL HOUSE, I WONDER WHETHER I WILL BE ABLE TO HANDLE THESE THREE HYPERTROPHIC EGOS AND MAKE IT HOME ALIVE (AND WITH GOOD SHOTS).
WELL, IT WAS A PERFECT DAY. IT WAS LIKE CRISTIANO, ANTONIO AND TIZIANA HAD KNOWN EACH OTHER ALL THEIR LIVES. NO ONE MADE A GESTURE TO HIGHLIGHT THEIR OWN WORK. ANTONIO SEEMED DISINTERESTED IN HIS CLOTHES. TIZIANA, NORMALLY VERY JEALOUS OF HER SPACE, LET US USE, MOVE AND UPROOT HER PRECIOUS AND FRAGILE WORKS. AND CRISTIANO? HE LET HIMSELF BE MANOEUVRED, TRANSFORMED, TOUCHED AND MOVED, WITHOUT A WORD OF PROTEST. RELAXED, ALMOST IN A MYSTICAL TRANCE, SURPRISED ONLY THAT THE MUSICAL SEQUENCE ON TIZIANA’S SPOTIFY WAS SO GOOD. LIKE IN A CLOSE-KNIT ORCHESTRA AFTER YEARS OF REHEARSING TOGETHER, EVERYTHING WENT SMOOTHLY WITHOUT THE NEED TO FOLLOW A SCRIPT (WHICH WAS THE FILM OSTROV (THE ISLAND) BY PAVEL LOUNGUINE).
